How do I track my students’ performance?

From your course page, click the “Students” tab. At a quick glance, you’ll see the number of completed conversations for each student. Click any student to expand and view the details, including their various conversation partners and the status of each upcoming/past conversation. Here’s a key for each status:

  • Reserved: The student has reserved an upcoming conversation.
  • Completed: The conversation was successfully completed. You may click view more details and access the conversation recording (the student has access to their own recordings, too).
  • Student Canceled: Students may cancel at no penalty as long as it’s at least 12 hours prior to the reserved start time. (Once it’s inside 12 hours, the option is removed.)
  • Speaker Canceled: Speakers may cancel as long as it’s at least 24 hours prior to the reserved start time. Students are notified (and these are rare).
  • Missed: The student didn’t show up for the conversation.
  • Tech Issue: The connection wasn’t strong enough, so the minutes returned to the student's account the first time (even though in 99% of cases, it’s on the part of the student; Boomalang provides a first-time pass). On the second or more "Tech Issue" a student experiences during a given course, they have the option to purchase a discounted make-up exactly as they do for a their second or more "Student Missed" conversation.
  • Speaker Issue: The Boomalang speaker didn’t show or had a connection issue preventing the conversation from going smoothly. (Quite rare, in less than 1 in every 200 instances.)
  • Transferred: Rarely, a Boomalang speaker will encounter a last minute issue and Boomalang will provide a replacement speaker as an option to the student. A bonus 15 minutes is automatically provided to the student's account in the event that they would like to "pass" on the opportunity to have both the transferred conversation and an extra.
    • In other words, the student is not in the hole any minutes for choosing not to speak with the replacement. (Though hypothetically if they'd like to, they may have the conversation with the replacement AND still receive a bonus 15 minutes automatically.)
